The items and links in this section demonstrate my strong ability to lead with a natural and compelling inclination. You will see how I have proven my abilities to create a sense of community where students and educators want to participate in the library media center.
Library Media Center Discipline Plan
(wrobel_portfolio_discipline.doc)
I completed this brief, effective set of rules for a middle-school library as an assignment in a graduate class focused on the role of school library media specialists in the curriculum. I learned how to formulate a "doable" plan by completing this assignment. It helped me to think about what an effective discipline plan is and how to incorporate current research into the classroom. This plan shows that I can base my actions as a leader on effective practices. It shows that I am confident in my abilities to lead students and set a positive example in the media center.
Department Newsletter
(wrobel_portfolio_newsletter.pdf)
I researched, wrote, designed and published this newsletter when I worked for a year as a part-time librarian at one branch of a local community college, Erie Community College South. It was originally published on the ECC library web site and was also distributed to library employees in print format. Throughout the newsletter's production, I learned how to network via e-mail and in-person visits with my colleagues, several of whom worked at two other branch campuses of the college. This newsletter demonstrates my leadership abilities because, after making the offer to my supervisor to create the publication, I went above and beyond without any further direction to make it an interesting and informative newsletter. I worked individually through one full semester to interview, write and edit the articles while completing my regular job duties.
